A Few More Men's MDF Portrait Projects...

Good morning, I just wanted to show you a few more of the projects I created using the men's MDF media blanks...

This is just the head, it's the pompadour design and I've added one of the beards, this has so much potential, it could be added onto anything, or maybe left alone with a brooch back for a funky unique badge.
I have painted this using the gelli plate and acrylic paints, his fantastic beard I used bubble wrap for the circle texture, love that. I've stamped his face and added shadows and details with pencils.
Here he is sporting a pair of glasses, love how different he looks and how easy it is to personalise and customise.
This monocle was very simple to create by snipping it from the circle pair of glasses in the kit.

 Another...
This one could very much lean towards fanart... he has a Harry Potter look about him. I used the Side Swept Bangs design.
I've also used the Gelli Plate to add colour to the pieces in acrylic paints, even the tie. This time I've adhered him to a wooden block which I have also painted.
His hair has the same gelli plate paint technique as the other guys beard.
I stamped his face, and pupils and coloured the rest in coloured pencils, I've added a little stubble from the face stamp set and smudged over it, as his face was looking too clean.
Now, my DS Dillon wanted to have a go and I just love his result...
It's all hand painted in acrylics and he worked out the shadow and highlights, pretty good for a thirteen years old.
This was just me messing about... trying looks and seeing which works, I laid book pages on the wet paint to act like a transfer to create the shirt.

This is a little slide show of the projects...

Thanks for stopping by there's still plenty of time to enter our current challenge.
Enjoy a wonderfully creative day!

Paperbabe Stamps ~ MDF Men's Mixed Media Portrait Kits...

Thank you for all you wonderful comments and delight at the new release, you'll be pleased to know they are now listed for you to enjoy...

So here they are...
click the pictures to take you to their individual listing..

I had lots of fun making samples with these... so, let me show you

These three don't necessarily work together, I used different techniques on each of them...

I used acrylic paints on this guy, and stamped most of the facial images in black ink. His shirt I was very pleased with, I used the DesignA Tweed set and heat embossed the check design, the tie has a houndstooth on it although hard to see in these pictures.
I then decided to place him on an ornate frame to match my female day of the dead mixed media art piece.

I wanted to try watercolours on mdf so for this one I prepared the surface with with gesso so that the colours would show when I painted the features, his jumper has been stamped on using the designA tweed stamp set to give a great texture.

This is using matte finish acrylic paints, I used a more painterly style and inked the edges of his top to give a soft fabric texture.

I think this is one of my favourites, I've been using the gelli plate to colour the pieces, it takes next to no time and the textures and results are stunning. Look at his beard, love that finish. I've paired him with this pretty girly, so you can see them together would be great for couple projects.

I'll pop back tomorrow with more samples, there's just too many to show today but do visit the lovely talented team and say hi...

Thank you very much for stopping by,

Introducing Paperbabe Stamps ~ Men's MDF Portrait Media Blanks

Welcome and thank you for stopping by...
Let me introduce you to a few men...
Tee hee today it's the turn of Men's MDF Portrait Media Blanks...

Pompadour

Side Fringe

Side Swept Bangs

So, the idea is the portrait is broken into layers, but instead of having to draw them they are simply painted and adhered together to create a dimensional mixed media portrait.

This Kit contains all the pieces you will need to create a dimensional men's portrait, there are instructions and a face template to help with lining up and facial proportions, using the Male Face Mini Stamp Set. I have designed them so they can stand freely or be hung on the wall with the pre cut hanging hole.

The Details:
  • Men's MDF Portrait Media Blanks kits will be available for purchase on Fri 15th Sept.
  • The sets will retail at £7.99 each
  • Men's MDF portrait kits has between twelve to thirteen pre-cut pieces, they have been designed to have some adjustment whether you want to give your portrait a longer neck or flip the hair over for a different look. There is the option of four neck lines whether you want a crew neck, v neck or a shirt and tie, all the options are included. The MDF is 3mm thick with the plinth/stand at 6mm, your complete portrait will stand approximately 8" tall.
Now I believe men's portraits need a few accessories too...
Bald Head

Beards & Mustaches

Glasses

Ties

Paperbabe Stamps Portrait Media Blanks are laser-cut shapes cut from 3mm thick (with the plinth/stand at 6mm) premium sustainable wood fibreboard and has some burnishing around the edges from the laser.
The only addition you will need to add to the kit is adhesive, any good pva will work and of course your art supplies.

We Hope you pop back for some examples tomorrow...
until then enjoy a wonderfully creative day

Kim
Kim created a mixed media piece using the long loose wave template as a mask, the female face was stamped directly onto the patterned background. The texture was created using the polka dot, herringbone stencils and a few speckles from the spritz and speckles stamp set. Finished with a fitting art risks quote stamp.

Terri
Terri created her project using the male-face-stamp-set and coordinating mdf substrate. She used acrylic paint and pencil to add colour to the face and clothes.

Kerrie
Kerrie created this card using 'Mayleedee Little Red' and some pretty papers from her stash. Kerrie coloured the image using copic markers in colours matching the background papers.

Paperbabe Stamps Challenge #55 ~ Sketch

Thank you for stopping by today, I'm running a bit late with this post today, having house hunters coming all hours this week, really eats up my time and energy.

So, we have a sketch to help you this fortnight's challenge...
Use the sketch in any creative way that you want, flip it, turn it, be inspired by it. The circle could represent any image and "paperbabe stamps" any sentiment.

Paperbabe Stamps Challenges are open to everyone...
As usual you are welcome to combine with other challenges too.

Please be sure to link your project below for a chance to win Paperbabe Stamps Gift worth up to £20*.

Now onto the team's fabulous interpretation...

Terri
Terri chose to rotate the layout for her card. She use the Polka-dots stencil to add colour and pattern to the strip at the back.  The bottle was decorated using the mdf bottle of substrate which was painted with chalk paint and then had embossing powder added using the matching bottle-of-stamp-set. Terri added a butterfly emerging from the bottle, this was stamped with butterfly-pieridae-stamp-set. The sentiment is the dont-be-afraid-to-sparkle stamp.

Delphine
Delphine took inspiration from the sketch for her watercoloured piece. The sunlight is the circle from the sketch and the vertical elements are the leaves pointing upwards. To create her lady, she used her Mixed Media Templates - Blunt Bangs Long Portrait (mini) and Head & Torso - and the Female Face stamp set. The leaves are from the Peony & Bud stamp set, and the butterfly from the Butterfly Pieridae stamp set.

Kim
Kim is making a start on a few Christmas cards, she stamped the polka dots using gold embossing powder, the snowflake substrate was painted with gesso and the coordinating snowflake on vellum. The sentiment was built from the Sparkle Bright set.
